Oh Oh. There is water on your new bathroom rug. Toilet is leaking.
Or ...
Coming through the roof after you take a shower water.
What do you do?
These are real plumbing emergencies. No time to figure out how to do it yourself or wait for your brother to get home from work. But professional plumbers are so expensive.
But so is a new rug ... Or floor ... Or a terrace. Time to act fast.
What to do in a plumbing emergency
You always know where your main shutoff valve is a want for your home. If things seem really bad the first thing you want to know.
You just dump it off to your toilet for that particular plumbing fixture supply lines are closed. It is usually right under the toilet. A sink is pretty much the same way.
But a shower where you do not know where the shutoff valve is located on the what? Well good question.
Know where your shutoff valves are located
Hindsight is always 20/20. You learned that you should know where the valves are located in the emergency. Better stop reading and go to see them now.
What are you waiting for go ahead?
What do they say? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Time to hit the books ...
Around a couple of great books:
Home Depot by the "Home 123 improvement"
• By Black & Decker Complete Guide to Plumbing "
Both of these books at your local Barnes and Noble or Borders book stores can be found.
No, you do not have to read these books cover to cover. And there is no test. When you have an emergency but they are a great reference.
But I suggest you read them long before that. Flooded the floor is a little too late.
And if you do decide you need some help from a professional, here's how to go about finding ... Faster.
1. "Plumber Clearwater" Go to Google and type. Of course your local town or city rather than use of Clearwater.
2. Look to see which provides emergency services. They should be right on your website. They also have a number you can call and be talking to someone quickly.
3. There maybe a judge so how quickly they answer the phone (and professional) time to check references.
4. Make sure they are licensed. Ask them ...
